One of FLA's main objectives is to "provide education and information to members, breeders, governmental officials, shelter operators, and the general public for the ultimate benefit of lupines: wolves and wolfdogs" (FLA Constitution).

Florida Hybrid Regulations
It is important for wolfdog owners and prospective owners to be aware of the regulations that each state has in place pertaining to the keeping of wolfdogs (and wolves). The old law in Florida stated that wolfdogs were legal without any kind of permit if they had less than 75% wolf. However, the law changed in 2009 to read as follows:
F.A.C. Rule 68A-6.002(1)(d)
Hybrids resulting from the cross between wildlife and domestic animal, which are substantially similar in size, characteristics and behavior so as to be indistinguishable from the wild animal shall be regulated as wildlife at the higher and more restricted class of the wild parent.
